Vervocity Interactive doesn’t just build websites. We help build up the community around us. A prime example is our participation in the development of a better Quincy Public Schools website.

QPS began an initiative for advancing technology when they launched the Dream Big campaign. They saw a need for a new website. With two of our team members on the Quincy Public Schools Foundation Board of Trustees, we became a part of that discussion. The Web Design and Programming Team of ETC ComputerLand, now known as Vervocity interactive, was asked to take on the QPS website project in 2011 with the help of money raised by the Dream Big campaign.

The existing website had blue and green gradient bars down both sides with large blocks of content and simple navigation across the top. Our redesign included a Blue Devil-inspired and appealing blue and white theme that was easier to read. It also included efficient navigation and a custom CMS platform allowing different administrators to edit content specific to their department. Coaches could only edit the athletics pages; school administrators could only edit pages about their specific schools, etc.

Unfortunately, responsive website design wasn’t a thing in 2011, so in 2013 the school district began to talk about needing a mobile-friendly update.

In 2013, Vervocity Interactive donated a redesign of the QPS website to the school and foundation. More than 45 hours of free, donated time was directed at the district’s specific needs. The website launched in 2014 and included a fresh new look, responsive design, restructured navigation, customizable quick links, a large banner rotation on the homepage to showcase photos and a Facebook link to drive social interaction.

Vervocity Interactive continues to partner with the Quincy School District as new needs arise. We created the QPS Foundation site and when they need additional help or training we donate that time.
