HONORING HISTORY
Since 1896, the Historical Society of Quincy & Adams County (HSQAC) has preserved and promoted the rich heritage of Quincy and the surrounding areas. When HSQAC reached out to us, they were ready for something new. They wanted a website that felt fresh, inviting, and easier for their team to manage.
Our designers worked closely with their team to create a design that reflects their mission of connecting people to stories of the past. As soon as visitors land on the homepage, they’re greeted with a video featuring aerial shots showcasing some of the area’s most well-known historical sites. From there, visitors can explore information about HSQAC’s exhibits, guided tours, events, programs, community support opportunities, and more. The website includes a large amount of content, so we broke it into clearly defined, visually distinct sections. The layout help users process the information more easily and guides them to take the next step.
USER ENGAGEMENT
To encourage high visitor engagement, we added a separate static navigation bar at the bottom of the visible page. The secondary bar stays in place as users scroll and offers constant access to key calls to action. Whether someone wants to become a member, volunteer, shop, or offer support, the options are easy to find, no matter what page people are on.
We also added an e-commerce store and shopping cart for the online gift shop. Visitors can browse and purchase items directly from the site, helping generate online support for the organization. Along with the store, we added online registration for tours and events. The new features give users more ways to connect, participate, and support the Historical Society without needing to take an extra step off the website.
In the end, we designed a user-friendly, mobile-responsive website that brings history to life while making it easier for the public to engage. We’re proud to help HSQAC build a stronger digital presence that honors the past and supports their future.
